Panel Upgrade in Freehold Borough, Freehold

Project Details

About This Project

A couple in Freehold Borough purchased a 1970s home and quickly discovered the existing 100-amp Federal Pacific panel was a serious safety concern. Multiple breakers had failed to trip during testing, and the panel lacked capacity to support the new central air conditioning system they had planned for the summer.

JLC Electrical Contractors LLC removed the hazardous Federal Pacific panel and replaced it with a modern 200-amp Square D Homeline load center with copper buss bars and AFCI/GFCI breakers where required by current NJ code. The crew also replaced the weatherhead, meter socket, and service entrance cable. All circuits were relabeled, tested under load, and documented in a panel schedule left with the homeowner.

The upgrade passed inspection on the first visit and gave the homeowner the capacity they needed for central air, a future EV charger circuit, and eventual kitchen remodel. More importantly, it eliminated the documented fire risk associated with the Federal Pacific equipment that had been protecting their family's home for over fifty years.
