About This Project
A Colts Neck family purchased a new electric vehicle and quickly realized that charging on a standard 120V outlet meant waiting over twelve hours for a full charge. They contacted JLC Electrical Contractors LLC for a Level 2 charger installation that would cut charge times significantly while meeting the electrical demands of their older home.
Our team ran a dedicated 50-amp, 240V circuit from the main panel to the garage, upgrading the panel from 150 amps to 200 amps to accommodate the additional load. The ChargePoint Home Flex charger was wall-mounted at an ergonomic height with cable management hooks for a clean, organized setup. All work was permitted through Colts Neck Township and inspected to NJ code.
The result is a nightly charge time of under four hours, even in cold weather. The charger is Wi-Fi enabled, allowing the homeowner to schedule off-peak charging and track energy usage through the ChargePoint app, saving money on electricity while keeping the vehicle ready for the morning commute.
